Greetings to you all and we wish you a very fulfilling summer!
In the midst of difficulties, we have seen God still at work in Sicily and in the hearts of people. The outreach to the refugees from Ukraine is ongoing there. Please continue to pray for the end of the conflict there so that people can return to their homes and rebuild. In the meantime, your contribution has helped in feeding, clothing and taking care of the natural necessities.
Here are a few pictures sent to us from Sicily. Your prayers are always appreciated. We asked you to pray for Dean and his short internship in Sicily. It was a success and we praise the Lord how he was used in ministry there. Here is a report from a coworker in the field. Walter wrote:
“We want to thank all of you that we got to know Dean and his heart for God. It was a fruitful time for all to have him here in Sicily. Dean participated actively in the meditation of the Word and daily prayers. He was involved in the two churches in our area, Nicosia and Troina. Dean surprised us also in doing a study in the Gospel of Matthew (Jesus and the rich man) during the Nicosia service in Italian which is not his native language (he is from Virginia).
“He also helped on a variety of practical work and got involved with Nigerian children. Not only that, he also helped with our friends from Ukraine, refugees, with a bit of English and Russian and was able to communicate the gospel. His availability and willingness was evident and we are grateful. Praise the Lord.”
Dean also wrote about his time there: “During my time in Sicily, God has blessed me with the opportunity to serve alongside Walter and Elisabeth. I found them very inviting, hospitable, and hard working in every aspect of their various ministry. I got acquainted and attended church services, including the opportunity to preach a short sermon on Matthew 19 about the rich ruler.
God gave me the strength to be able to share it in Italian, which is not my native language. I was able to help with the refugees at a building provided by the missionaries there. None of them spoke English or Italian well. God allowed us to be able to communicate to them and be a light to a people in crisis.
In the midst of cultural barriers, even knowing the Italian language, my time there gave me a helpful experience to improve my language skills. To God be the glory for allowing me to serve through Act Now Ministries, and to you that prayed, thank you.”
God is good in many ways to bring His message to the ones that need to hear it. Mr. Schiavone, a business man, donated ice cream to Giuseppe La China, our coworker there for the refugees. These little signs show God is at work, and little by little, people are getting to see fruit begin to sprout. Pray for Mr. Schiavone’s salvation. Also, pray for Gianluigi in Palermo who would like to participate in the Bible study, currently without voice from illness. Pray for Girolamo’s salvation as he deals with health issues.
A very heartfelt thank you from us, for your prayers and support.
As always: Let’s go fishing (really) for one more for the One.
From our family to yours, we wish His blessing and a Happy Summer.
God bless you.
