August is rapidly coming to a close and in Italy the national holiday month is just about completed.  As you know, most people leave for holiday and the towns become very quiet.  It is far too hot for them because most do not have air conditioning there.  And even with the heat of the month they also have Mt. Etna erupting, shakes, heat, and so on.  And here in the US we have had such tremendously crazy weather, one day hot and sunny the next torrential rain in areas unlikely.  Even in the day of information and technology with the heat in Italy it causes Internet defective problems, sometimes it works and sometime, not so much.  The inconsistency of all around us keeps one guessing.

#26

The Lord allowed us to have a great opportunity in sharing His Word from the end of May until Marc Eckel left the island at the end of June. All began when our friend Jeff Outland from Woodside Bible Church, our church, contacted us saying that he was coming on the 25th of May, and Marc was scheduled to arrive on the 26th.

Castelvetrano, Naval Base Sigonella, Castelbuono, Ragusa, Siracusa, Nicosia…these are the names of the towns where we were present the entire month of June with splatexperience and our friend Marc Eckel. God is great!

Matthew 28:19-20, and the words of the apostle Paul sounded in our hearts as a reminder: For me (us) to live is Christ. That is our call that He will be evident in our lives.  Thank you for praying for an awesome month of ministry with splatexperience.com. Your prayers accompanied us for every km that we traveled, around 5,000 km in all or 3,000 miles.

Jeff  Outland was a great asset to us as we started traveling all over Sicily. Thank you Terri for sending him to us. Why do we thank you for your prayers? All of this could not have happened without your prayers, faithful giving, and never ending encouragement to us.

Castelvetrano was a great opportunity where we were able to share on four different occasions. Our first meeting happened only just half hour after we arrived there. We were asked how long we needed to set up because the evening service was ending and the church was full of refugees from Africa. We had travelled four hours through four of the nine different provinces in Sicily.

We hope your Memorial Day weekend is glorious.  I decided to look up what it would say a “memorial” is and here is what it said, “something, especially a structure, established to remind people of a person or event.” We the church, those who belong to Christ, are here to be a living memorial to the Living Son Jesus Christ and to share that glorious news with those who have not found a personal relationship with Him yet! Isn’t that a glorious thought for this weekend!

Update from the Collesanos – Sicily February and March 2014

Giuseppe returned to Sicily and was extremely happy to have 70 degrees greet him because when he left Michigan it was minus 20 degrees! What a difference. It was a long trip, and returned home to find no gas or electricity for almost a week.  God bless the friends who let him stay with them for the week until the utilities were restored.  Finally by the following Friday I was able to sleep at the house.

Here in Belpasso I am helping Pastor Giuseppe Murabito and his little church in reaching the town and the area around it. The Lord allowed him to mentor a few young men here and at the same time adding these new ones to the Tuesday night study.

On Sunday I participated in two services, one in Belpasso and the other one in Messina.  While in Messina, Giuseppe met one of Gaetano’s good friends, Pastor Angelo Maiorana.  He spoke highly of Gaetano and how God used Gaetano for his salvation.  It was a great opportunity to get to know new pastors who know Italy for Christ’s ministry so that we can partner with them for future ministry.

Saturday we went to Messina for a pastors meeting with Pastor Croce, and he also sends his greetings to you Guy. This Sunday here in the Belpasso Church, where Pastor Murabito pastors, five came forward to accept the gift of salvation! Praise the Lord because you were praying!

On Sunday night we went to Floridia in the province of Siracusa at Pastor Russo’s church. We took food for his family and shared with the church The Word.  It was a real blessing for them that we were able to come and take part in the service.
